Longhoughton CofE First School celebrate Easter
Once again the pupils, staff and governors of Longhoughton CofE First School celebrated Easter with a service in school and church. You may remember reading last year about the procession of children led by ‘the donkey’ or ‘Harry the horse’.
This year the procession, from school to church, was led by a group of Key Stage 1 children and the willow cross they had made in the Messy Church After School Club. The whole school had also made palm leaves to wave as they processed up to church.Once in church the children swapped their paper palm leaves for a palm cross. The palm leaves were laid on the floor of the church making a carpet of leaves to symbolise Palm Sunday.

During the service the children listened to the story of Easter week, sang hymns and heard prayers written by children in Years 2 and 4.
